Appeals

Child laughing

Every year, our generous supporters raise a staggering £2 million by taking part in everything from coffee mornings to skydives. But just as valuable are the donations we receive as part of our appeals – you'll find details of the appeals we're running right now, below.

We always have a variety of appeals on the go, designed to match the four key areas for which we raise money:

  • Patient care and clinical area enhancements
Going into hospital can be a difficult time. But a warm and welcoming environment can make all the difference. That's why we're committed to supporting projects that improve the hospital experience for patients and their visitors.
  • Medical research
Internationally renowned scientists and practitioners work within the NUH Trust to find cures and improve treatments for serious illness. With your help, their work will ensure even more patients make a full recovery.
  • Staff training and education
It sounds basic, but happy staff mean happy patients. So we support staff celebrations and awards, and provide them with special opportunities to attend conferences and training events that the NHS doesn't fund.
  • Equipment
We're dedicated to providing patients with specialist equipment that isn't available through routine funding pathways – giving clinicians access to the latest technological advances.

Prostate Cancer appeal

This year, 50,000 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer and 10,000 will die from the disease. That’s why we’re helping the Urology team at the NUH Trust hire a senior researcher to help improve knowledge and treatment of the disease. We’ve already made some significant advances – you can help this great work continue by donating today.

But for the work to continue, we need your help…

Clown Doctors appeal

Charlie Chaplin once said ‘laughter is the tonic, the relief and surcease for pain.’ And almost 100 years later, a study conducted by the University of California proved him right. That’s why we’re committed to providing our children’s wards with Clown Doctors – with your help, they’ll be making children smile for many years to come.
