Katie’s Midnight Walk is held in memory of Katie Taylor, who died on 17th June 2008 from a malignant melanoma – the most serious and deadly form of skin cancer.
Before she passed away, 15-year-old Katie decided to hold a five-mile sponsored midnight walk to raise money for research and raise awareness of her condition. She died just days before the walk was due to take place, but it went ahead in her memory.
This year, the walk will take place again, as Katie’s mum Alison explains: “On the Saturday closest to the 17th June each year, we will hold a 5-mile sponsored walk, as planned by Katie before her death.”
To sponsor Katie’s mum, friends and family, just visit www.justgiving.com/katiesmidnightwalk. All funds raised will be donated to NUH Charity and put towards melanoma research.
