Fabulous fundraising at Fernwood

Fernwood's 'Fundraising Prefects'

The pupils of Fernwood School, Wollaton, have certainly got talent!

After watching a DVD about children with cancer, a group of girls at the school felt moved to set about raising as much money as possible to help children with the devastating disease. Their main idea was to run a competition, ‘Fernwood’s Got Talent’, based on the TV programme which hunts for Britain’s hidden stars. The evening was a great success with 13 performances from pupils of all ages. Those performing put on a fantastic act and the audience had a great time.

To further boost their total, the girls held cake sales and a staff carwash.

The grand total came in at £437.68 – a wonderful sum, reflecting all the hard work the girls put in. The money will be used for the benefit of our young cancer patients on Ward E38.

Shaun Baxter, the Head of Year 11 at the school, praised the efforts of his pupils, saying: “I cannot express my heartfelt thanks to all the girls involved in this project. They worked tirelessly to get the whole thing organised, and I have nothing but admiration for them.”

NUH Charity would like to echo Mr. Baxter’s words of gratitude, and say a huge ‘thank you’ to the pupils of Fernwood School for all their fundraising efforts.
