The Ladbrokes shop in Stapleford, Nottinghamshire, has donated £2,000 to Nottingham University Hospitals Charity, after a customer was treated for cancer.
Staff at the shop raised almost £1,000 through raffles and sweepstakes throughout 2009, and had the total doubled by Ladbrokes as part of a matched giving scheme.
The money will go to NUH Charity’s Prostate Cancer Appeal and the cheque was received by Consultant Urologist Mr Owen Cole, from Nottingham Urology Centre, at the City Hospital.
Ladbrokes Stapleford manager Pam Toplis explained: “One of our customers was a patient of Owen Cole’s at Nottingham Urology Centre and he said to me, ‘That man saved my life’. So we decided to raise money for the hospitals charity.”
