Twiggy and Emma from Nottingham radio station Trent FM today launched a World Cup Anthem in aid of NUH Charity.
The single, called ‘Raise Your Voice’, features 14,000 primary school children from across Nottinghamshire, along with local sporting teams, including Nottingham Forest FC, Notts County FC, Nottingham GMB Panthers, Nottingham Rugby Club, Notts County Cricket Club and boxer Carl Froch.
The song, written by Nottingham’s Phil Rostance and the Marshall Band, also features a rap from Twiggy himself!
Half of the money raised will go to NUH Charity, towards equipment for a new multi-purpose room for cystic fibrosis patients at the City Hospital.
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a life-limiting illness that affects the lungs and digestive system. CF sufferers require hospital treatment on a regular basis, sometimes for several weeks at a time.
Exercise and physiotherapy are an important part of treatment for CF sufferers, and the new room will be kitted out with suitable equipment for them to use. Equipment will include an exercise bike and a cross trainer, as well as Wii Fit consoles and a CD player.
The room will also provide a quiet space and a relaxing area with comfortable chairs for discussions between patients, relatives and staff, or for patients to use as a rest area after undergoing treatment.
Vanessa Riley, Head of Fundraising for NUH Charity, said: “We’re thrilled to be working with Twiggy and Emma at Trent FM to raise money for this new multi-purpose room for cystic fibrosis patients.
“This room will make a huge difference to the patients by providing them with an area to meet a whole range of needs, from physiotherapy to a haven away from the busy ward. We look forward to seeing the difference that this charity single will make to patients across Nottinghamshire and the East Midlands.”
The other half of the money from the single will go to the Shine Foundation, which helps protect vulnerable children in the UK and South Africa.
